Communications
The Graduate College will be using the email listed on your application to contact you. Please make sure that your email address is correctly entered on your application. Additionally, make sure that you check it regularly for communications from FAU and that FAU is listed as a trusted site so that emails are not flagged as junk mail.
Application Fee and Term of Entrance
There is a nonrefundable application fee of $30. With the exception of McNair, McKnight and Fulbright Scholars, all applicants, including former FAU students, are required to pay the application fee.
Applications for admission will not be processed more than one year in advance of the date for which entrance is sought. Applicants have 10 business days from the date that their application is submitted to pay the $30 processing fee (unless the fee is waived). Applications will not be forwarded to the Graduate Program for consideration until after the fee is paid. If the fee is not paid within 10 business days, the application will be expunged from the database. Students who apply after the deadline date will be processed for the next appropriate semester.
Please note that FAU's online application is hosted by FACTS (Florida Academic Counseling and Tracking for Students). FACTS.org is a central web resource for students to plan and manage their higher education experience and allows applicants to apply for any term at any time.
If an application arrives after the program deadline, it may be denied by the department due entirely to the late submission.
Applicants applying after the program deadlines cannot be assured that a decision will be reached before the beginning of the semester.
Payment Options -- You may pay the application fee online with a credit card once you have completed the online application. You may also mail a check or a money order payable to the Graduate College. The application fee must be payable in U.S. dollars from a financial institution with a branch in the United States. If paying by check, money order or cash please send directly to the FAU Graduate College. Please include your name and FACTS confirmation number. Your application cannot be processed if the nonrefundable application fee is omitted.
Residency
Initial Classification -- When a student applies to FAU, the system initially classifies every student as a non-Florida resident. The residency officer in the Graduate College then determines the residency classification after reviewing the application, the Residency Classification form, and the required documentation. During this review, additional documentation may be required. In this case, include a Z number on any materials sent to the Graduate College to expedite the decision-making process. If a student fails to provide this documentation, it will result in an automatic classification as a non-Florida resident.
Conduct
If you have ever been convicted, pled nolo contendere, had adjudication withheld or deferred (or similar disposition) with respect to any criminal offense, other than a minor traffic violation, you are required to answer "yes" to the conduct question. You will be provided an opportunity to give a statement of the relevant facts regarding the violation(s), including the date(s) of the violation(s), and the penalties imposed.
Electronic Signature
Your completion and submission of the FAU graduate admission application will be your electronic signature, which is legally recognized by Florida statute.
Official Transcripts
Domestic Applicants -- Request one official transcript from the Registrar of each college or university you have attended (except FAU) to be sent directly to you. When you receive the transcripts, do not open the envelopes, but include them in your materials packet. If FAU was the last school you attended as a degree-seeking student, it is likely that your other transcripts are on record. You will be notified if they are not.
Mail the official transcripts to Florida Atlantic University, Graduate College, SU-80, Room 101, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33431. In addition, a professional transcript evaluation by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is required of all students who have attended a college/university outside the United States. (A list of the NACES members is located at http://www.naces.org/.) For information about international credentials, click here.
International Applicants -- Please read the above requirements for Domestic Applicants as they apply to International Applicants as well. A professional transcript evaluation by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is required of all students who have attended a college/university outside the United States. (A list of the NACES members is located at http://www.naces.org/.) For additional information, click here.

GMAT/EXADEP: You must submit your official score results from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Examen de Admisión a Estudios de Posgrad (EXADEP) for graduate programs in the College of Business. Scores must be sent to the FAU Graduate College. Our school code is 5229 for the EXADEP and 9LX for GMAT.
It is your responsibility to make the necessary arrangements to take the appropriate tests. While you may apply before taking the appropriate test, please note that many programs will not consider applications without the official test scores.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY -- International applicants seeking an F-1 or J-1 visa are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam, and have their scores submitted by the testing service. International applicants who have attended a post-secondary institution in the United States for at least two years are not required to take either test. There are certain countries where the primary medium of instruction is English with which this requirement is waived. Please contact the Graduate College for specifics.
