Maohua Lin, Ph.D., earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in material science and technology from Fuzhou University, China, and Nanchang University, China, respectively, and a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from FAU.

He is currently a research scientist in the department of ocean and mechanical engineering at FAU. He also serves as the guest editor of Sensors and Topical Editor of Crystal.

Accolades include Best Publication Award, 2019, Seed Grant 2019 to 2021, an FAU fellowship in 2016 and a Global Research Initiative Program grant award in 2015.
