Cristina Lopez Vergara
Cristina Lopez Vergara is the Director of Experiential Learning & Internships, provides strategic leadership for experiential learning initiatives, including the President’s Internship Program for Community Impact (PIPCI). In addition, Cristina is a committee member for the FAU Florida Legislative Internship Program (FFLIP) and Owls on the Hill (OOH) Program, placing interns with an interest in public service roles in Tallahassee and Washington, DC. Through employer and stakeholder engagement, program oversight, and academic instruction, Cristina ensures students participate in meaningful internship experiences that support career readiness and professional development. As the instructor for the professional internship course, IDS 3949, the largest internship course offered at the university with annual enrollment of 750-1,000 students, Cristina guides students through the integration of classroom learning and practical experience while serving as a key resource as they navigate the expectations and responsibilities of professional work environments. Additionally, Cristina works collaboratively with campus and community partners to expand internship opportunities, strengthen employer relationships, and support program growth and assessment, while adhering to the Florida Board of Governors metrics.

Jacklyn Burnett
Jacklyn Burnett is the Assistant Director, Experiential Learning & Internships, Assistant Director of Experiential Learning & Internships, oversees the day-to-day administration and growth of the PIPCI program, including employer partnership development, student recruitment and advising, internship coordination, onboarding, program assessment, and participants’ career outcomes. As the primary point of contact for students and employer partners, Jacklyn provides guidance and support throughout the internship lifecycle, ensuring a high-quality experiential learning experience that aligns with program objectives and career readiness outcomes. Through strategic relationship management and continuous process improvement, Jacklyn works to expand internship opportunities, enhance stakeholder engagement, and support student success while advancing the goals of the program. PIPCI offers 200-250 paid internship opportunities in local government and non-profit organizations year-round.
