Our programs provide the flexibility you need, allowing students to pick and choose between traditional and fully online classes, with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of research, both taking place in key areas in South Florida and across the world. The Department of Geosciences offers undergraduate degree programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a focus in either Geography or Geology. Students can also choose from Certificate Programs in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), with minors in Geography or Geology, and Geographic Information Science. Students can also pursue their master’s or Ph.D. in Geosciences.
The Department of Geosciences, College of Science, and Florida Atlantic University offer a wide range of scholarship and award opportunities for undergraduate students in the geosciences. These are based on financial need, diversity, and scholarly achievement. Scholarships specifically for graduating seniors in Palm Beach County Schools or transfer students from Palm Beach State College are also available.
The rich and varied experiences offered by the Geosciences prepare students for wide-ranging and rewarding career opportunities. Our alumni have gone on to work for non-profit organizations; education and research institutes; various companies in the private sector; and governmental agencies. South Florida’s status as an economic and entrepreneurial hub provides students with countless opportunities to work for and build connections with the organizations shaping the future.
