Graduate Program Application

The Master of Arts program in Political Science program has competitive admissions. We seek students with a strong undergraduate record in their major and an interest and commitment in the study of political science. We do NOT require an undergraduate degree in political science. Our students must have:

  1. Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0
  2. TOEFL score of 500 or IBT of 61 for International Students
  3. Excellent Writing Skills
  4. Competitive GRE scores (recommended)

    1. Transcripts: Submit official transcripts in sealed envelopes from all schools directly to the graduate college. NOTE: If you attended one of the Florida State University System institutions, transcripts may be requested electronically.
    2. GRE (and TOEFL for International Students): Should be submitted directly to the Graduate College.

    1. Two letters of recommendation
    2. Statement of personal objectives in essay form
    3. If you are requesting funding, a one page letter indicating the type of funding and why the department should support you.

Once your application has been submitted, you can check your application status online to ensure transcripts and test scores have been received.

NOTE: Application status will say incomplete until an admission decision has been made.

Domestic Students:
Fall: June 1
Spring: November 1

International Students:
Fall: February 15
Spring: July 15

All documentation must be submitted by the deadline to be considered.
