FAU essential worker working in Outtakes

It may be hard to imagine the work that takes place when many of our students and staff are not on campus, whether it’s evenings, weekends, or during the spring and summer semesters when instruction was fully remote due to COVID-19. Yet a number of employees – those considered FAU’s “essential workers” – remain on campus to continue its upkeep.

FAU never officially closed due to COVID-19, so it was imperative that many essential staff be on campus throughout the spring and summer to care for our students and facilities. Employees like groundskeepers, maintenance workers, dining staff, university police, mailroom staff, professors, researchers, and many others diligently maintained university operations and prepared our campuses for the fall semester. Click here for a brief video honoring these hard-working individuals.

On behalf of everyone at FAU, I’d like to offer a sincere “thank you” to the essential employees who work tirelessly to maintain our campuses and bring the best possible experience to our students during this unprecedented time. We truly appreciate their efforts.
