In the past, I’ve delivered my State of the University address around this time of year. While it can be viewed as an opportunity to provide the university community with a progress report, the traditional method of a formal address has become somewhat antiquated. In the modern era, much of our news and information is disseminated via numerous electronic media outlets in real time, which can make a traditional address seem redundant. Furthermore, there is a not-insignificant cost associated with staging such an event. Going forward, I have decided to try a new format. Rather than a general address, I will give a more focused update twice a year via a video message. Stay tuned for more details.
