Important Resources Available for Students

The last weeks of a semester can be particularly challenging, and the fall semester, with the added stress of the holidays, can be the most challenging period of all for many people.

The university community recently suffered some terrible losses, and while the circumstances were very different, they were equally tragic.

Times like these underscore the importance of providing mental health services and awareness for those who may experience difficulty coping, post-traumatic stress disorder, or other related conditions.

It is very important to remember that you are not alone. Beyond family, friends and others you trust, the university has resources available to help you cope and navigate difficult times. If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, please seek guidance.

The resources that follow — some campus-based, others national organizations — can help. Please do not feel embarrassed or ashamed to seek help or advice, whether it be from trained mental health counselors or your academic advisor.

Many people are here to help, so please take advantage of these valuable resources.

If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. Resources also are available here.

Text the National Crisis Text Line for 24/7 support via text. Text START to 741-741 or visit crisistextline.org for more information.

Additionally, the FAU Counseling and Psychological Services Center is available for all students. Please click here for information or call 561-297-3540 for a 24-hour phone support line.
