FAU Celebrates LGBT History Month

FAU kicked off LGBT History Month this week with a series of events across our Boca Raton, Jupiter and Broward campuses. LGBT History Month was established in 1994 to celebrate the achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender icons, and encompasses National Coming Out Day, which is October 11.

LGBT History Month events taking place at FAU include the Safe Zone Ally Training Program, which educates attendees on issues relating to the LGBTQ+ community and fosters allies, to create a safe and inclusive campus environment. The culminating event is FAU’s annual Drag Show on Oct. 27, featuring locally known artists. All events are free and open to the public. Click here for the full schedule of events.

FAU is committed to providing an inclusive environment for our diverse student body, and that includes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Our LGBT+ Resource Center provides support and resources for LGBT+ students and members of the FAU community seeking to understand their experiences.
