Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

This week kicks off National Hispanic Heritage Month, the annual celebration of the historic and cultural contributions of Americans whose ancestors emigrated from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. FAU is very proud to serve a diverse population of students, including many of Hispanic/Latin heritage. In fact, Hispanic students are our largest minority population and outpace the university’s overall retention and graduation rates.

FAU will host a variety of events across our campuses to celebrate this year’s theme of “Hispanic Americans: A History of Serving Our Nation,” through October 15. Events include prominent speakers, group discussions, movie screenings, and more. I encourage everyone to take part in the festivities and celebrate the many ways that Hispanic and Latin American traditions and culture have enriched our society.
