Remembering Dr. John Pritchett

Over the weekend, we learned the sad news that former Interim President Dr. John Pritchett has passed away. Dr. Pritchett served as provost and chief academic officer for five years before serving as interim president from 2009 to 2010.

Dr. Pritchett, a professor of biomedical sciences and zoologist, was a treasured member of the Florida Atlantic University community. During his time as provost, he oversaw the establishment of the Graduate College and the introduction of a new undergraduate general curriculum. As interim president, he hosted His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet during a historic visit to the university. Prior to joining FAU, Dr. Pritchett had a very accomplished career as interim provost, dean of the graduate school, and head of zoology and wildlife sciences at Auburn University. Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Ginger, moved back to Auburn, Alabama. Click here to read the full obituary.

The FAU community grieves during this sad time, and we send our deepest condolences to Dr. Pritchett’s family and loved ones.
