$1 Million Grant Launches Healthy Aging Clinic

Dr. James Galvin, executive director of FAU’s Institute for Healthy Aging and Lifespan Studies (I-HeAL), recently received a $1 million grant from The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation to help support his Dementia Prevention Initiative. Dr. Galvin is a world-renowned neuroscientist, international expert on Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia, and associate dean for clinical research in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine.

The grant will launch the Comprehensive Center for Brain Health (CCBH), Dr. Galvin’s healthy aging clinic on the Boca Raton campus, where he can now see patients. He will deliver a personalized prevention plan, tailored to each individual’s risk profile based on a number of factors. The CCBH is one of the few centers in the world focusing on dementia prevention, and the only one that uses Dr. Galvin’s innovative protocol. We are extremely grateful to The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation for supporting Dr. Galvin’s groundbreaking work. Healthy Aging is a pillar of the university’s strategic plan, and studies like this reinforce our commitment to improving the quality of life for our senior population.
