Welcome, Provost Danilowicz!

Next week, Bret Danilowicz, Ph.D., will join the FAU family as provost and vice president for academic affairs. He succeeds Gary Perry, Ph.D., who served as university provost since 2014. Dr. Perry will rejoin our faculty and resume his teaching and research interests.

Dr. Danilowicz comes to us from Oklahoma State University, where he served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences since 2012. Previously, he was dean of the College of Science and Technology at Georgia Southern University from 2006-12. He also held a faculty position at University College Dublin in Ireland. Dr. Danilowicz earned his Ph.D. in zoology from Duke University. He also holds an M.B.A. from Georgia Southern University, an M.A. in education: leadership and management from The Open University in the United Kingdom, and a B.S. in biology with a minor in computer science from Utica College of Syracuse University.

Dr. Danilowicz is a tremendous addition to FAU, and the university certainly will benefit from his proven energy, and his innovative and forward-thinking nature as we continue our Race to Excellence. I look forward to welcoming Dr. Danilowicz to campus next week and to working closely with him on FAU’s senior leadership team.
