FAU Receives $1.25 Million Grant from U.S. Navy

FAU recently received a $1.25 million grant from the U.S. Office of Naval Research to develop important technology that will help secure our coastal waters and at-sea assets. The five-year project will focus on developing an autonomous multi-vehicle system that can safely and reliably navigate coastal waters while performing assigned tasks, such as surveillance, coastal surveys and target tracking.

The principal investigator of the award is Manhar Dhanak, Ph.D., director of SeaTech - The Institute for Ocean and Systems Engineering. Headquartered on our Dania Beach campus, SeaTech - The Institute for Ocean and Systems Engineering, is part of the Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering within the College of Engineering and Computer Science. FAU is very proud of our history of excellence in ocean engineering, and SeaTech - The Institute for Ocean and Systems Engineering, remains at the forefront of research and discovery. We are delighted to receive this grant from the Office of Naval Research, which will further highlight the success of SeaTech and our ocean engineering program.
