Congratulations, Owl M.D.s!

Today, we celebrated the third class of physicians to graduate from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. In addition to the traditional hooding and recitation of the Hippocratic Oath, the ceremony featured the commissioning of two students who will serve as physicians in the U.S. Navy: Lt. Kasey Conklin, who also served as class president, and Lt. Sherrie Moore.

More than one-third of our 61 graduates will remain in Florida for their residencies. Others will head to some of the nation’s top institutions including Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School; Mount Sinai, Icahn School College of Medicine; Emory University School of Medicine; Cleveland Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University Hospitals; Duke University School of Medicine; Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis; and New York University School of Medicine.

The exceptional students in the Class of 2017 were selected from a field of more than 3,000 applicants. During their time at FAU, two members of this class got married and one welcomed a baby. This class also will be remembered for starting the tradition of “Bow Tie Fridays.”

Congratulations to our newest Owl Doctors! We are very proud of you.
