My first week as an Owls fan saw some exciting victories as our softball team beat Marshall 9-6 to win its first-ever Conference USA series, our baseball team swept two games against Boston College in the run-up to its Conference USA debut at UT San Antonio, women’s basketball routed UT El Paso 98-62, men’s tennis beat both Toledo and Wright State, women’s tennis triumphed over Davidson and Wright State, and golfer Derron Peyton shot 207 to take first place at the Harmony Golf Preserve Intercollegiate. Way to welcome a new president to FAU!

Intercollegiate sports play a big role in the life of a university, bringing students together in an atmosphere of fun and relaxation, drawing members of the outside community to campus and inspiring alumni to support their alma mater as fans and donors. FAU has excellent teams, dedicated coaches and outstanding athletic facilities – all the ingredients for success! I’m looking forward to celebrating many more victories as the newest fan in Owl Nation!
