FAU Baseball Off to a Great Start

FAU Baseball is back, and the season is off to a great start. Last night, the Owls defeated the No. 24 ranked Miami Hurricanes, bringing their record to 7-1.

On Monday, senior pitcher Jake Miednik was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week following the team’s sweep of Delaware last weekend. Jake’s 14 strikeouts against the Blue Hens are the most thrown by any FAU pitcher since 2009. Prior to the start of the season, Jake, along with shortstop Tyler Frank and outfielder David Miranda were voted to the All-Conference team.

Tyler Frank received a number of other preseason accolades, including being named to the Collegiate Baseball All-American Second Team, the Perfect Game/Rawlings Third Team, the DIBaseball.com All-American Third Team and USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list. After the 2017 season, he earned a spot on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and has twice been named a top draft prospect by Baseball America.

FAU Baseball has a long history of excellence, and I’m sure this season will be no different. I look forward to cheering on the Owls and invite you to join me at the ballpark this spring. Click here to see the team’s schedule and call 1-866-FAU-OWLS for tickets.

Go Owls!
