Microcredentials

FAU’s Office of Educational Leadership Learning (OELL) offers the opportunity to pursue Microcredentials in specific areas of educational leadership and instruction. OELL Microcredentials are asynchronous, online, self-paced professional learning courses designed to meet the current and future needs of educators. Current and aspiring administrators can earn Microcredentials in specific areas of focus to sharpen their skill set and expand their educator toolkit. These professional learning courses are aligned to the Florida Educational Leadership Standards (FELS) and can be used toward in-service for recertification.

School Turnaround Leadership

Leading Challenging Schools

The School Turnaround Leadership microcredential course is designed to introduce Florida's school leaders to the level of preparation required of a successful school turnaround leader and encompasses 20 hours of professional learning. The course introduces prominent school turnaround leadership frameworks, pertinent educational standards, nationally accepted turnaround school best practices, and laws and regulations specific to the State of Florida. The course then invites participants to assume the role of turnaround principal and engage in applied decision-making through a multi-layered, problem-based ‘school situation’ simulation. This research-based decision-making experience offers relevant, outcomes-based results after which the learner is provided with the solidified learning components of review and reflection. The course culminates with the participant's creation of a School Turnaround Plan.

Leading Challenging Schools

The "Leading Challenging Schools" micro-credential equips Florida school leaders with the skills and strategies to confront and transform their school's unique challenges. Participants will engage in confronting their reality, identifying relevant change initiatives, and sustaining these efforts over time. The program emphasizes making professional commitments to drive change across teaching and learning, schoolwide systems and structures, and building robust family, caregiver, and community partnerships. Leaders will also learn to navigate and influence district and state policies, ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable approach to school improvement.
