Spring 2021 SCMS Scholarships Awarded

Three merit-based Palm Beach Post Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding SCMS Multimedia Journalism majors who “have expressed and demonstrated an interest in a career in journalism” through their published writings and journalistic work:

• $ 3,000 to Joseph P. Acosta, former Managing Editor of FAU’s University Press, who has been accepted by the Medill Graduate School of Journalism at Northwestern University and will start in Fall 2021;
• $ 1,200 to Corey A. Rose, who has been accepted by the Graduate School of Journalism at UC Berkeley and will start in Fall 2021;
• $ 1,000 to Gillian Manning, who has been elected Editor-in-Chief of FAU’s University Press and will start in Fall 2021.

One merit-based Inez Persson Bailyn Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding SCMS Multimedia Journalism major who “has a demonstrated desire to pursue a career in print and multi-media journalism,” which is expressed in her published writings and her editing:

• $ 1,000 to Fallon K. Forrestel, who is on track to graduate “summa cum laude” in Fall 2021.
