by FAU College of Arts and Letters | Thursday, Dec 18, 2014

Florida Atlantic University's Department of English presents Jo Ann Beard with a reading on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Majestic Palm Room in FAU's Student Union,  777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Beard is the author of a collection of autobiographical essays, "The Boys of My Youth," and the novel "In Zanesville." Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Tin House, Best American Essays, and other magazines and anthologies. She received a Whiting Foundation Award and nonfiction fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation and the New York Foundation for the Arts. She teaches at Sarah Lawrence College.

Beard is at FAU as part of this year's Sanders Writer-in-Residence Program. The program was established by the Sanders Foundation to advance the work and memory of Lawrence A. Sanders, a best-selling South Florida novelist who died in 1998. He achieved great success with his novels, "The Anderson Tapes" and "The First Deadly Sin."  The latter was the first in a series of thrillers that gained him praise as a contemporary mystery writer.

This lecture is part of FAU's Off the Page Series. Other events in the literary series include:
