FAU’s Jeffrey Huber and Brooks and Scarpa Awarded Gold Medal by Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture

Brooks and Scarpa, a firm co-directed by  Florida Atlantic University’s Jeffrey Huber, was awarded the 2024 Tau Sigma Delta Gold Medal. The award was granted by the Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society in Architecture and Allied Arts, and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. The award is granted by the national Grand Chapter to professionals with a record of high distinction in design in the field of architecture, landscape architecture or the allied arts.

Huber, FAIA, ASLA, associate professor in FAU’s School of Architecture in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, is principal at Brooks and Scarpa along with Angela Brooks, FAIA; and Lawrence Scarpa, FAIA. The firm is a collective of architects, designers and creative thinkers dedicated to enhancing the human experience. The firm was ranked 2nd Overall Top Architecture Firm in the United States by Architect Magazine and has more than 100 significant national and international awards and thousands of publications awards, including the 2022 AIA Gold Medal, the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award, and the National and State of California American Institute of Architects Firm Award. Brooks and Scarpa has also garnered international acclaim for the creative use of materials in unique and unexpected way and the firm has been recognized for pioneering more holistic approaches to delivering award winning environmentally responsive designs.

Huber was the lead on their new book “Salty Urbanism: A Design Manual for Sea Level Rise Adaptation in Urban Areas.” The book addresses ways in which cities and urban areas will respond and adapt to rising sea levels and the accompanying increase in salinity of coastal and near-coastal land.

The 2024 award will be presented during the ACSA 112th Annual Meeting to be held in Vancouver, BC, Canada, March 14 -16, 2024 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. The TSD Gold Medal will be awarded on Thursday, March 14 at the conference opening, followed by the keynote presentation from Brooks + Scarpa.
