The Major in Languages, Linguistics and Comparative Literature
Beginning in the Fall 2025 term, all students who complete a major in Langauges, Linguistics and Comparative Literature (LLCL) are required to complete the following core courses:
- LIN 3010 Introduction to Linguistics
- LIT 3060 Introduction to Comparative Literature
In addition to the core courses, students must complete a minimum of 30 credits from courses offered by the Department. At least 24 of these credits must be in the upper division (3000-4000 level). At least 12 credits must come from one of our areas of concentration in French, Italian, Linguistics and Spanish. Students looking to specialize on a specific area may choose one of the following concentrations:
