The character of James Bond, 007, is a globally-recognized icon in popular culture, who was brought to life by Ian Lancaster Fleming, who died in 1964. Fleming was an English author, journalist and naval intelligence officer. Join Oliver Buckton, Ph.D., as he discusses the connections between Fleming’s life and intelligence work, and the character and missions of James Bond in the Bond novels and films.

Buckton’s talk will discuss Fleming’s:

  • Fascinating, flamboyant yet secretive life
  • Love affairs that inspired the creation of the “Bond Women”
  • His work in naval intelligence during World War II
