Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot

Formally known as "Bing Chat Enterprise". A ChatGPT-style chatbot, that can generate text and images. By logging in, the system will not store history by user; each logout or new session wipes the memory. In fact, each query is a new blank slate even within the same session, so it’s not possible to have a “conversation” with Copilot (like you can with ChatGPT). Data stays local and is NOT uploaded to Microsoft or the public model version of Bing Chat. Inputs into Copilot are NOT added to the system's memory, database, or future answers. This helps to keep data secure within FAU.
  1. From the Copilot site, click "Sign in" at the top-right
  2. Select "work or school" for the type of account
  3. Type your full FAU email (including @fau.edu) and click NEXT
  4. Log in with your FAUNet ID and password.
  5. Above the box where you would type your question, you will see "Your personal and company data are protected in this chat" – this is how you know you are in Copilot.

FAU OIT is piloting the use of Copilot for Microsoft 365 with various representatives across campus to determine the impact of generative AI use in daily work within higher education.
