FAU EVerify

In response to a federal directive issued last year, Florida Atlantic University is adopting E-Verify, a paperless, high-security, Internet-based system that allows employers to determine the eligibility of employees to work in the United States. E-Verify is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration.

FAU is a university that receives government funded contracts.  Since the FAR  E-Verify clause is contained in the terms and conditions of our grants, we are required to use E-Verify. The law provides for the University  to verify the entire workforce, which includes all existing University employees regardless of whether they are assigned to a Federal contract.

This will replace the current practice of having employees fill out hard copies of Form I-9 when they begin working at FAU. Once in place, the new system will provide a comprehensive, constantly updated database that will ensure the University's ability to comply with new federal regulations, including those relating to our eligibility for government research contracts. As an added benefit, it will support Mission Green by helping to reduce the use of paper.
