Sigal Rubin, MSCCJ

 

Sigal Rubin is a senior instructor and undergraduate coordinator in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University, where she also serves as internship coordinator. She earned a Master of Science in criminology and criminal justice from FAU and has developed three fully online courses that have earned Quality Matters certification.

Rubin’s primary teaching focus is Ethics and the Justice System, which she redesigned around active learning and the learning assistant model. She was the first faculty member in the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice to implement the model and now serves as a learning assistant faculty mentor, supporting its expansion across disciplines. She also teaches Law, Crime and the Criminal Justice System (CCJ 2002), emphasizing active learning, student engagement and the application of course concepts to real-world issues.

In addition to teaching, Rubin coordinates undergraduate internships, connecting students with experiential learning and professional opportunities throughout the community. She also directs FAU’s annual Criminal Justice Summer Camp, which provides high school students with hands-on exposure to criminal justice careers and higher education.
