Social Work Student Receives Prestigious HERO Award

Dimitri Richard, MSW student, graduate teaching assistant, BSW alumnus, and ’22 magna cum laude, is a proud recipient of the Transition to Independent Living (TIL) System of Care Unsung Hero Award, bestowed during the FLITE Center’s 6th Annual Heroes Luncheon. The FLITE Center chairs Broward County’s TIL System of Care includes approximately 20 agencies that specialize in child welfare and youth services. Dimitri is completing his specialist internship at HANDY, which provides support services to Broward County children throughout their transition to independent living. 

 

The Unsung Hero Award honors Dimitri’s work at HANDY and as a HOPE Court advocate exemplifying the transformative impact social workers have in our communities.

“I am honored to be recognized for my commitment to the youths on my caseload, the barriers I helped them overcome, and the goals I aided them with accomplishing,” Dimitri said.
