Graduate Progression and Retention Policy

The following are requirements for progression and retention in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing Graduate Program:

1. An overall GPA of 3.0, with a minimum grade of B in all required nursing graduate courses.
   
   
2. Students must adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, the Florida Nurse Practice Act (Section 464.018, Florida Statutes), and FAU Regulation 4.001, Code of Academic Integrity. Students are expected to demonstrate professional conduct consistent with the College of Nursing’s philosophy, conceptual framework, and Professional Statement. Failure to meet these standards may result in dismissal from the program.
   
   
3. At any time during the semester students who are not making satisfactory progress towards meeting course objectives will be counseled and notified in writing. A student who earns a grade of B- or below in any required nursing course, or who fails to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, will be recommended for dismissal from the College of Nursing. Students recommended for dismissal will be subject to the University's Academic Dismissal of a Student from a Graduate Program Policy.
   
   
4. A student who is permitted to continue in the program following a recommendation for dismissal must have an approved Academic Progression Plan (APP) on file. Any student who subsequently earns a grade of B- or below in another required graduate nursing course will be dismissed from the College of Nursing.
