FAU to Host Events for Women’s History Month

Florida Atlantic University will host events at Boca Raton, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, and Jupiter campuses to celebrate Women’s History Month. The events are free and open to FAU students, faculty and staff.

The following events will take place at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road:

Women’s Retreat
Saturday, March 7 to Monday, March 9
Women and Gender and Equity Resource Center and Campus Recreation

This retreat style trip will allow attendees to enjoy the outdoors while connecting with the Women and Gender Equity Resource Center. 

The Body Project
Wednesday, March 18 to Wednesday, March 25
Owls Health Care Promotion and Women and Gender and Equity Resource Center 

This four-hour program will provide attendees with skills to unlearn and disrupt the appearance ideal. To learn more and register for “The Body Project,” visit tinyurl.com/FAUthebodyproject.

‘Becoming Carole Lombard:’ Book Release and Screening
Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m.
Living Room Theater

FAU alumna and visiting assistant professor Olympia Kiriakou’s book “Becoming Carole Lombard: Stardom, Comedy and Legacy” is a historical critique of the development and reception of Carole Lombard’s stardom from the classical Hollywood period to present day. 

FGSA Graduate Symposium
Friday, March 20 at 10 a.m.

The theme of the symposium is “Question, Challenge, Organize: Turning Feminist Theory into Praxis.”

Flip the Script – Sexual Assault Resistance Training
Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Owls Care Health Promotion Classroom (SS-222)

Flip the Script is a 12-hour sexual assault resistance training divided into three-hour shifts for university women. This class follows the Canadian-based curriculum Enhanced Assess Acknowledge Act (EAAA). EAAA is the first and only evidence-based curriculum proven to reduce a woman’s personal risk of sexual assault.

Feminist Movie Night
Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m.

Join us for our monthly movie night which will include student led discussion.

Off the Page with Angela Rhone
Monday, March 16 at 12:30 p.m.
Davie Student Union, Oasis Lounge

Attendees will explore the literary masterpieces of various authors related to the theme, "This is Woman."

Women's History Speakers
Monday, March 16 at 5:20 p.m.
Liberal Arts Patio

Attendees can listen to fellow students speak as they portray female leaders throughout history. 

The Women Code – Student Union Engagement Series
Thursday, March 19 at 4 p.m.
Davie Student Union, Room 105

A panel discussion to identify and discuss the habits of an extraordinary woman. Topics include how to cultivate a successful life financially, mentally, and physically.

Attendees will make a difference by creating feminine hygiene packs for women in need.

Women’s Empowerment Dinner
Thursday, March 19 at 5 p.m.
Davie Student Union, Room 105

Attendees will have the opportunity to gain insight and knowledge on how to succeed in a career, while connecting with fellow students, business leaders and FAU faculty. The evening will include guest speakers and roundtable discussions.

Attendees can create a card, letter or poem that centers around acknowledging the importance of women who have impacted their life.

A series of handpicked short stories about women, focused on inspiration and adventure relevant to people from all walks of life.
