The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will present a lecture by Walid Phares, Ph.D., U.S. President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign foreign policy adviser, on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.

“U.S. Foreign Policy and Major Middle East Conflicts in 2019” will cover major principles of the U.S. administration in foreign policy regarding the various geopolitical challenges facing the U.S. worldwide. It will focus on the military and political expansion of Iran in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, and the new role of Hezbollah in the region and beyond. The lecture also will analyze U.S. policies regarding four ongoing wars in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen, and the campaign against ISIS and terrorism in Afghanistan.

Phares served as President Trump’s foreign policy adviser during the 2016 presidential campaign and was national security adviser to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Phares was an academic adviser for the U.S. House of Representatives Caucus on Terrorism and has been the co-secretary general of the Transatlantic Parliamentary Group. He served as MSNBC’s terrorism analyst and has been a foreign policy expert for Fox News since 2007. He also appears on major international and Arab media outlets.
