Jaffe Center to Host “Print and Popcorn Filmfest”

The Jaffe Center for Book Arts will host a “Print and Popcorn Filmfest” leading up to the annual Letterpress Appreciation Day Open House on Friday, Sept. 18.

The Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts will host a “Print and Popcorn Filmfest” on the five days leading up to the center’s Sixth Annual Letterpress Appreciation Day Open House on Friday, Sept. 18 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Wimberly Library. The celebration is open to the public. Admission is self-determined, meaning you pay what you want to.

“Letterpress is experiencing a strong revival, perhaps in direct relation to our expanding digital world, and it is at the core of what makes the Jaffe Center for Book Arts so fascinating,” said John Cutrone, the center’s director. “All the type and images printed on these presses must have one precise height measurement of 0.918 inches. This is what makes Sept. 18 Letterpress Appreciation Day.”

The center will screen films from Monday, Sept. 14 through Thursday, Sept. 17 at 4:30 p.m. daily. Click here for information about the films.
