FAU to Celebrate ‘A New OWLeans’ Homecoming 2017

Florida Atlantic University will celebrate “A New OWLeans” Homecoming 2017 beginning Saturday, Oct. 14 through Saturday, Oct. 21, on FAU’s Boca Raton, Broward and Jupiter campuses. All events are open to FAU students, faculty and staff unless otherwise noted.

The following events will take place at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road:

Homecoming Kick Off

Friday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m.

Housing Lawn

Homecoming week begins with a pep rally for the FAU community. The event includes appearances by FAU mascot Owlsley, the FAU cheerleaders, the FAU band, Owl Radio, prizes and more.

Drag Show

Saturday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m.

Carole and Barry Kaye Auditorium, Student Union

Sponsored by FAU’s Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs and the Multicultural Programming Board, the FAU Drag Show is an annual event celebrating the art of drag performance. This year’s show will feature six of the most popular drag queens in South Florida. The event is free for students with a valid OWL Card.

Homecoming Run for Autism- 5K Run/Walk

Sunday, Oct. 15

Check-in at 4 p.m., race at 5 p.m.

Alexander D. Henderson Soccer Field Facility

**Open to the public**

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) and FAU Campus Recreation will host the 2017 Homecoming Color Burst 5K.  A one-mile fun run/walk will begin before the race at 5 p.m. A run for children ages 8 and younger will begin at 5:15 p.m. The 5K will begin at 5:30 p.m. Register online at coe.fau.edu/centersandprograms/card/homecoming_run_for_autism.php.   

Homecoming Comedy Show

Sunday, Oct. 15

Doors at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m.

Carole and Barry Kaye Auditorium, Student Union

This year’s comedy show will feature comedians from the hit MTV show “Wild ‘N Out.” The lineup includes Rip Michaels, Darren “Big Baby” Brand and Nate Jackson. Students get in free with a valid OWL Card.

ExtravaCANza

Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m.

SO Rotunda

Student teams will race to build the best sculpture out of canned food items. After the event, all non-perishable items used will be donated to Boca Helping Hands and FAU’s Beyond Food. The event is sponsored by FAU’s Weppner Center for LEAD & Service-Learning and Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement (SAVI).

Fall Family Fest

Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.

Stadium West Lawn

**Open to the public**

Bring the whole family to FAU’s annual Fall Family Fest. The festival includes carnival games, bounce houses, face painting, balloon art, a photo booth, free food and more.

Multicultural Bash

Thursday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m.

Housing Lawn

Celebrate the culture and flavors at FAU by showcasing what makes this University awesome. Attendees will enjoy music and food stations showcasing cuisine from around the world.

Talon Awards

Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

FAU Recreation and Fitness Center

The annual Talon Awards Ceremony, co-sponsored by the FAU Alumni Association and Student Government, will recognize four outstanding leaders from the community, alumni, faculty and student body.

Red Hot Stroll Off

Thursday, Oct. 19

Doors at 6 p.m., event at 7 p.m.

FAU Arena

Join NPHC fraternities and sororities as they show off their best moves. There will be strolling, contests, prizes and live music. This is also your chance to meet the FAU men’s and women’s basketball teams before each kick-off their seasons.

Day of Service

Friday, Oct. 20 at noon

Live Oak Pavilion, Student Union

Students will work together to package items that will be shipped to areas affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The event is co-sponsored by the Weppner Center for LEAD and Service-Learning and Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement.

OwlFest

Friday, Oct. 20

Doors at 8 p.m., show at 9 p.m.

Carole and Barry Kaye Auditorium, Student Union

Catch Grammy-award winning rapper T-Pain along with special guests 3OH!3 and Levi Stephens at this annual concert sponsored by FAU’s Program Board. Tickets are available at the FAU Box Office.

FAU vs. North Texas Football Game

Saturday, Oct 21 at 5 p.m.

FAU Stadium

**Open to the public**

Cheer on the FAU Owls as the team takes on the North Texas Mean Green. FAU’s 2007 football team will be honored along with former Coach Howard Schnellenberger at halftime for the 10th anniversary of the team’s New Orleans Bowl win. The Homecoming royalty also will be crowned.

CarnivOWL

Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m.

RF Fields

**Open to the public**

FAU’s Jupiter campus kicks off Homecoming 2017 with its annual CarnivOWL festival. There will be carnival rides, face painting, games, food and more.

Broward Family Carnival

Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.

Diversity Way

**Open to the public**

FAU’s Davie campus kicks off Homecoming 2017 with an evening of food, drinks, music and entertainment for the whole family.
