Florida Atlantic University recently received a $25,000 pledge from Gotta Luv Them, Inc. to establish the Gotta Luv Them Alumni Scholarship Endowment Fund. The fund will award scholarships to students who are active in social or academic Greek Life at FAU.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Gotta Luv Them for this generous gift,” said Stacy Volnick, FAU vice president of administrative affairs and interim vice president for institutional advancement. “Philanthropic support from FAU’s alumni and friends is crucial to the success of the University. We truly appreciate this gift, which will directly benefit some of FAU’s most involved students.”

Gotta Luv Them’s founding members, Tyrone Bradley ’08, ’13; José Herrera ’05, ’09; Chris Trentine ’05; and Whitney Trentine ’07 met at FAU in the early 2000s. In 2007, Bradley and Chris Trentine created Gotta Luv It Outdoors, a Florida Keys clothing brand, and Owlsgear.com, which specializes in FAU-branded apparel.

“The entire Gotta Luv Them board had such incredible memories at FAU which built a strong foundation for us in the professional world,” said Whitney Trentine, president of the Gotta Luv Them Board of Directors. “We are proud and excited to provide a scholarship that will minimize the financial restraints for students who are actively engaged in the FAU community like we were, so these students can explore their own leadership potential and become a new wave of civic leaders in our community.”

The Gotta Luv Them Alumni Scholarship will provide recipients with financial assistance for one academic year. In addition to being active in social or academic Greek Life, recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA; be full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors; have completed at least 30 hours of community service; and submit a 500-word essay describing the importance of attending college and of leadership in the community.

Gotta Luv Them was established in 2013 as a nonprofit organization that would create fundraising events in local Florida communities to benefit education. The founding members hope to make a difference in the lives of students and give back to their alma mater. To date, Gotta Luv Them has provided financial support to the FAU Alumni Association and the University Club of the FAU Foundation.
