Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) continues its longstanding support of technology and innovation by announcing a $100,000 gift to help renovate the entrance to FAU Tech Runway®. The updated entrance, complete with cell phone charging stations, was recently unveiled at FAU Tech Runway® during a special reception.

“FPL’s incredible generosity makes a direct and substantial contribution to the success of the FAU Tech Runway® program and the entrepreneurs we serve,” said Rhys L. Williams, associate vice president for research and the managing director for FAU Tech Runway®.  “We are exceptionally grateful to be in partnership with the FPL team, and we highly value FPL’s profound commitment to entrepreneurship.”

Under the purview of the FAU Division of Research, Tech Runway® is a public-private partnership formed to cultivate technology start-ups and early-stage companies. FAU Tech Runway® fosters the growth of students, faculty and local innovators and provides them with the resources they need to thrive in a synergetic environment.

“FAU Tech Runway® is providing students, professors and Florida entrepreneurs with the mentoring expertise, space and financial backing to develop successful technologies and cultivate industry start-ups to help move Florida forward,” said Donald Kiselewski, chairman of FAU Tech Runway® advisory board and senior director of external affairs for FPL. “FPL is dedicated to providing the resources necessary to establish a creative, collaborative workspace and grow FAU Tech Runway® to yield more entrepreneurial opportunities.  This is one of the ways that FPL works with the communities we serve to make Florida an even better place to work and raise a family.”
