FAU Career Center Wins Inaugural Handshake Award
The Florida Atlantic University Career Center, within the Division of Student Affairs, has been named as one of Handshake’s inaugural Career Spark Award winners.
The Florida Atlantic University Career Center, within the Division of Student Affairs, has been named as one of Handshake’s inaugural Career Spark Award winners. FAU is one of just 31 nationwide recipients of this award, and the only school recognized from the state of Florida.
An online recruiting platform that partners with universities and employers to streamline and simplify the recruiting process for higher education students and alumni, Handshake selected three top career centers per school type – four-year public; four-year private; minority-serving institution; and community college – using data from three categories: student engagement; employer engagement and curation; and reporting, analytics and First Destination Survey (FDS). FAU was recognized for its stellar utilization and programmatic success in that latter category.
“Receiving a Career Spark Award is not just an acknowledgment of the Career Center’s professional excellence and innovation, but a thrilling affirmation of the staff’s passion and dedication for our students’ career readiness and the work we pursue that ignites our journey to success,” said Brian M. Montalvo, assistant vice president, FAU Career Center. “These recognitions do not happen in a vacuum; instead, they occur with unrelenting divisional, faculty, and University support, and focused intentionality around building a career ecosystem at Florida Atlantic.”
