Jean Martin Caldieron, Ph.D., associate professor in the FAU School of Architecture within the College for Design and Social Inquiry, has been selected for the J. William Fulbright Scholarship award to conduct research in Mozambique.

“It is an honor to receive the J. William Fulbright Scholarship award,” said Caldieron. “I look forward to my time in Mozambique and the lasting effects it will have on the institutions related to this award, on my own research, and especially how it will benefit students.”

His research interests are integration of structures with architectural design education, upgrading of self-built urban settlements, shantytown dynamics, and open buildings structures.

“This competitive and prestigious merit-based scholarship is a testament to Dr. Caldieron’s research and significant contributions he has made and will no doubt continue to make,” said Ron Nyhan, Ph.D., acting dean of the College for Design and Social Inquiry. “The quality and level of his service, leadership, and excellence in these areas are trademarks for the award.”
