John Ricotta, M.D.

Dr. John J. Ricotta, M.D. FACS DFSVS has been an Academic Vascular Surgeon for more than 4 decades. After Medical School and residency at John Hopkins he joined the faculty at University of Rochester. He subsequently moved to SUNY Buffalo as Professor of Surgery where he established the Vascular Division and Vascular Fellowship. He has served as Chair of the Surgery Department at SUNY Stony Brook and the Washington Hospital Center where he was Professor of Surgery at Georgetown and George Washington Hospital before joining the FAU faculty as Adjunct Professor of Surgery.
A former Director of the American Board of Surgery, Chair of the Vascular Surgery Board, and member of the RRC Surgery of the ACGME, at FAU Dr. Ricotta serves as a mentor for the Faculty and Fellows of the FAU Vascular Program. With over 300 publications, his primary role is to supervise and direct the Research efforts of the Fellows and faculty.

Amon-Ra Gama, M.D.
Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Amon-Ra Gama is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, dedicated to excellence and patient care. Born in Brazil and fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, he brings a unique cultural perspective to Vanguard Plastic Surgery. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northeastern University and earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, serving as Class Council Ethics Chair.
Dr. Gama completed a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital, advancing outcomes in face and hand transplantation. He then completed a 6-year Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, excelling as Chief Resident.
His expertise includes general reconstruction, limb salvage, microsurgery, hand surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, trauma, and aesthetic procedures, focusing on breast surgery. An avid triathlete and traveler, Dr. Gama brings the same dedication to his practice as to his personal pursuits.
A member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society, Dr. Gama is committed to providing top-quality care. His leadership and compassion ensure outstanding patient care in a warm, supportive environment.
