Residency Boot Camp

At the end of June, PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents participated in a neurology boot camp. This was designed to bridge the gap between medical school/internship and neurology residency. The active learning modules included the following: neuroanatomy lab, normal neurological examination, coma/brain death simulation, stroke simulation, lumbar puncture simulation, seizure case presentation, and OSCE. During each module, residents were observed performing different vital tasks and given feedback. They were also given practical information, including hospital protocols for managing acute stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and status epilepticus. Upper level residents showed them how to enter notes and orders in the electronic medical record.
