Thank you for your interest in the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University. Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). We do not accept applicants outside of the match process.

In line with recommendations from the AAMC and AAIM, all interviews will be conducted virtually. During the interview day, you will have opportunities to meet with faculty and current Fellows.

The Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine Geriatric Medicine Fellowship follows a selection process designed to identify the most qualified physicians. The process is conducted in a fair, transparent, and consistent manner, open to all applicants who meet eligibility requirements.

  • Candidates should hold a MD or DO degree and have completed an ACGME three-year internal medicine or family medicine residency.
  • Candidates will be evaluated for interview based on evidence of aptitude and interest in geriatrics during residency training and/or practice with definite plans to include geriatric care in the practice of medicine upon the completion of the fellowship program.
  • Candidates must:
    • Be eligible for West Palm Beach VA Medical Center Staff privileges.
    • Abide by the rules of the FAU Geriatrics Fellowship Program, West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, and Conviva Care Centers
    • Demonstrate excellent academic and clinical performance in residency training defined on the basis of standardized examination scores, and program director and other faculty evaluations.
    • Excellent leadership skills demonstrated in residency training or practice.

Application Requirements

We require the following information:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. ERAS Common Application
  3. USMLE Steps 1, 2, 3 score report (or COMLEX-USA)
  4. ECFMG certificate (if applicable)
  5. Minimum of three letters of recommendation (one must be from the Residency Program Director)
  6. Personal Statement
  7. Medical School Diploma
  8. Residency Completion Certificate (or letter stating they are due to complete their residency training by matriculation into the fellowship)
  9. Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Board Certification (if candidate has completed residency training more than two years ago)
