The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University received a second consecutive top rating among the country's best honors colleges and programs in the latest edition of  Inside Honors: Ratings and Reviews of 40 Public University Honors Programs

"This wonderful achievement stands as a testament to the world-class academic experience and unmatched opportunities available to our extraordinary students who are part of an intimate, ecosystem on the Jupiter campus, across the University, and throughout the region of South Florida," said Justin Perry, Ph.D., dean of the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College.

Inside Honors is published bi-annually and rates all honors program components on a five-mortarboard scale (similar to a five-star rating system) and is based on data obtained on honors graduation rates, class sizes, course range, and type, honors dorms, and other honors benefits, including merit scholarships.

The Wilkes Honors College is one of seven honors programs to receive a top rating of 5.0 "mortarboards.”

“Since 2002, more than 100 publications, most of them in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals, have included a Wilkes Honors College student as a co-author,” said editor John Willingham.  “The WHC also has strengths in the humanities and social sciences with 19 concentrations in these areas of study and if you are a National Merit Finalist, in or out of state, you will be eligible for a “cost of attendance” scholarship.”

This is the second time that the Wilkes Honors College has received this distinction. The college also received a top overall rating in the 2018-19 edition.

“We are extremely proud to have the top-rated Wilkes Honors College as part of Florida Atlantic University,” said Bret Danilowicz, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs at Florida Atlantic University. “Through its distinctive programs and talented faculty, its students are provided an incredible education and research experience at a remarkably low tuition.”

Located in Jupiter, FL, on the John D. MacArthur campus of FAU, this close-knit, residential, highly-selective liberal arts and sciences college offers a distinctive all-honors curriculum. Surrounded by world-renowned scientific research institutes, college undergraduates benefit from unparalleled access to research internships.

The opportunities are elite, especially for students interested in research at one of the prestigious institutes nearby, where undergraduates "have unprecedented access to working with scientists in all STEM fields.
