Voluntary Retirement Savings Plan Update  ·  Effective November 10, 2026

FAU is making it easier to save for retirement by simplifying the list of providers and offering one place to enroll and manage 403(b) your account. Here's what's changing, how it affects you, and what to do.

Questions?

Call the Office of Benefits & Retirement at 561-297-5555 or email benefits@fau.edu

What Plans Are Affected: This applies only to 403(b) plans. It does not change the 457(b) plan or your FRS plan. Those plans will stay exactly as they are.

Action needed by October 23, 2026
Action is only needed if your current provider is being discontinued (Fidelity, Jefferson National, Lincoln Financial, MetLife, T. Rowe Price, or Symetra). If so, choose a new provider by 4 p.m. ET on October 23, 2026. Choose your provider and set how much you contribute in Retirement@Work before the transition. See What you need to do.

What's Changing

Effective November 10, 2026, three providers — TIAA, Voya, and Corebridge Financial — will be available for new contributions, and a new online portal, Retirement@Work, brings your account information together in one place to enroll and manage your account.

What You Need To Do

The steps below apply only if your current provider is being discontinued.

1. Check whether your provider is changing

If you contribute only to TIAA, Voya, or Corebridge Financial — or do not have a 403(b) provider — you're all set. Continue only if your provider is on the discontinued list.

2. Choose a new provider by 4:00 PM on October 23, 2026

Open an account with TIAA, Voya, and/or Corebridge Financial and complete the Salary Reduction Agreement form. If you don't choose, your future contributions default to TIAA starting in Payroll 24, November 13, 2026.

3. Name your beneficiaries with your provider

When you open your account, set your beneficiaries. If you take no action, your designation is set to "Estate" until you update it.

4. Attend a campus town hall session (optional)

Join the virtual session on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM or the in-person session on Monday, October 19, 2026 in the Executive Education building, rooms SF-127 & SF-128 to ask questions.

5. Note the black-out period

From October 26 – Nov 9, 2026, you will not be able to join a plan, change your plan contribution, or change your plan provider.

What's Staying The Same

  • Your contributions continue

Your payroll contributions keep going without interruption — they're simply directed to a continuing provider.

  • Your savings stay yours

Balances left with a discontinued provider stay put. If you're with TIAA, balances in removed funds move automatically to replacement options.

  • Free one-on-one guidance

No matter which provider you choose, you can meet with a financial professional at no additional cost.
