PROJECT

This project focuses on the development of an eye-safe, unobtrusive LiDAR detection and classification system for underwater surveillance of marine life. The LiDAR imager is capable of obtaining high contrast imagery 360° around its base with better than 1 centimeter spatial resolution, at a stand-off distance of at least 5 meters in typical clear coastal conditions. The undergraduate student will focus optimizing the quality of captured images using both hardware and software solutions. Such work is suitable for a Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or Physics student.
