Description

The Goldwater Scholarship is for exceptional undergraduate students who intend to pursue research careers (Ph.D.) in science, mathematics, or engineering. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 annually for tuition, fees, books, and room and board (after all other funding has been calculated). The characteristics the Foundation seeks in a Goldwater Scholar include:

strong commitment to a research career in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering,
effective display of intellectual intensity in the sciences, mathematics and engineering, and
potential for a significant future contribution to research in their chosen field.

Deadline for Goldwater Scholarship Pre-Application . Students must also be nominated by a faculty member through Florida Atlantic's Prestigious Fellowship Nomination Form.	Friday, October 2, 2026
Deadline for first draft of completed application, including the online questionnaire, research essay, three letters of recommendation, and at least one writing consultation with the UCEW.	Monday, November 16, 2026, 12 pm (noon)
Deadline for all letters of recommendation sent to: fellowships@fau.edu.	Monday, November 16, 2026, 12 pm (noon)
Internal Review Committee and Office of Prestigious Fellowships feedback	Friday, December 18, 2026
