Since its founding, the Advanced Scientific Training Laboratory in Jupiter expands educational, research, and networking opportunities for scientists and trainees of all levels by providing facilities to host events, including auditoriums and reception areas, offices for lease, and additional space for advanced courses and workshops, specialized equipment training sessions, and national and international conferences. The close proximity of this facility to research institutes and scientific laboratories and equipment encourages collaboration among scientists, vendors, local biotechnology companies and other community partners to gather, learn, share ideas, and promote innovative research and cutting-edge technologies.

The Advanced Scientific Training Laboratory has hosted several past events, including Drone Day and the annual Flies on the Beach- South Florida Drosophila Research Consortium. The annual Flies on the Beach research symposium rotates between Florida Atlantic University, the University of Miami, and the Scripps Research Institute since its inaugural event in 2009. The John D. MacArthur campus at Jupiter had the pleasure of hosting this event in 2015 and 2017.
