Florida Atlantic University’s College of Education in collaboration with the School District of Osceola County (SDOC) has received a $1.8 million grant from the United States Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) for a five year project titled “PRAISE, Preparing for Readiness and Academic Improvement for pre-School English Learners.”
Florida Atlantic University’s College of Education School Leaders Program has been awarded a three-year, $1,039,041 grant from Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) to support two graduate degree programs as part of the Teacher School Leader Equity for Instructional Performance (EQUIP) grant project initiative. BCPS is the sixth largest public school system in the United States and the second largest in Florida.
Dr. Daniel Reyes-Guerra, Associate Professor, Educational Leadership and Research Methodology (ELRM), in Florida Atlantic University’s College of Education is at the forefront of innovation in school leadership education programs in Florida and the nation. Reyes-Guerra research interests include leadership for social and emotional learning, strategic leadership in times of change, equity-centered leadership, educational leadership policy, and university-school district partnerships.

The department’s first graduates were in 1966 at the Master’s Degree level and the first doctoral students graduated in 1973. Since its inception, the department has graduated nearly 5000 Masters, Specialist and Doctoral students.
