What Plans Are Affected: This applies only to 403(b) plans. It does not change the 457(b) plan or your FRS plan. Those plans will stay exactly as they are.

  • Oct 26 – Nov 9, 2026 : Black-out dates

You can't join the plan or change your contribution or provider during this window. You can still view your balance, update beneficiaries, and make transfers and withdrawals.

  • Oct 30, 2026 : Last contributions to discontinued providers

Final payroll contributions are sent to the discontinued providers.

  • Nov 10, 2026 : Plan changes & Retirement@Work Go-live

The plan changes take effect and Retirement@Work opens. If you're a current TIAA participant, your balances move to the new investment options.

  • Nov 13, 2026 : First new contributions

The first payroll contributions go to your chosen provider — or to TIAA (the default) if you made no selection.

The steps below apply only if your current provider is being discontinued.

1. Check whether your provider is changing

If you contribute only to TIAA, Voya, or Corebridge Financial — or do not have a 403(b) provider — you're all set. Continue only if your provider is on the discontinued list.

2. Choose a new provider by 4:00 PM on October 23, 2026

Open an account with TIAA, Voya, and/or Corebridge Financial and complete the Salary Reduction Agreement form. If you don't choose, your future contributions default to TIAA starting in Payroll 24, November 13, 2026.

3. Name your beneficiaries with your provider

When you open your account, set your beneficiaries. If you take no action, your designation is set to "Estate" until you update it.

4. Attend a campus town hall session (optional)

Join the virtual session on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM or the in-person session on Monday, October 19, 2026 in the Executive Education building, rooms SF-127 & SF-128 to ask questions.

5. Note the black-out period

From October 26 – Nov 9, 2026, you will not be able to join a plan, change your plan contribution, or change your plan provider.

  • Your contributions continue

Your payroll contributions keep going without interruption — they're simply directed to a continuing provider.

  • Your savings stay yours

Balances left with a discontinued provider stay put. If you're with TIAA, balances in removed funds move automatically to replacement options.

  • Free one-on-one guidance

No matter which provider you choose, you can meet with a financial professional at no additional cost.

Retirement decisions can feel intimidating — you don't have to make them alone. Here's who can help.

About The Change

To simplify a plan spread across many providers, refresh the investment menu, and make fees clearer — so it's easier to choose where to save and manage your account in one place.

November 10, 2026. Please see the Timeline for the key dates leading up to it.

Only if your current provider is being discontinued. If so, please choose a new provider by Oct 23, 2026. If you already contribute to TIAA, Voya, Corebridge Financial, or aren't contributing, no action is required.

If your provider is being discontinued

You can contact the financial advisor from TIAA, Voya, and/or Corebridge Financial and/or attend a Campus Town Hall to gather more information about the plans so you can make an informed decision. Once you have chosen your plan provider and opened an account with TIAA, Voya, and/or Corebridge Financial, you will be instructed to complete the Salary Reduction Agreement form. You can complete the form with your chosen provider when you open your account. If you don't choose, your future contributions default to TIAA starting with the Nov 13, 2026 payroll.

Starting with the Nov 13, 2026 payroll, contributions can only go to TIAA, Voya, and/or Corebridge Financial. Any contributions that were going to a discontinued provider that are not redirected by the deadline will default to TIAA.

My Contribututions & Account

No, your payroll contributions continue without interruption. If your provider is being discontinued and you don't choose a new one, your contributions are simply redirected to TIAA (the default) starting with the November 13, 2026 payroll.

Your savings remain yours. Balances left with a discontinued provider stay where they are. If you're a current TIAA, Corebridge, and/or Voya participant, balances in investment options that are being removed will move automatically to the replacement options.

Yes. Once Retirement@Work is live you can change your contribution at any time, except during the black-out period (Oct 26 – Nov 9, 2026).

You might find it easier to manage everything with one provider, but moving balances can sometimes have costs or trade-offs. Before consolidating, weigh the differences in investment options, fees, withdrawal rules, and tax treatment, and talk with a financial professional and your tax advisor. Your provider can walk you through your options.

Enrollment & Retirment@Work

It opens November 10, 2026. FAU will email you sign-in instructions once it's live, and a Quick Start Guide will be posted on the plan page.

Each provider offers free one-on-one guidance from a financial professional, and Retirement@Work has phone support. Please see the Contact Us on this page for phone numbers.

Investments

A target-date fund holds a mix of investments matched to roughly the year you turn 65, and it gradually shifts to a more conservative mix as that date nears. Its value isn't guaranteed and moves with the market. You can find more details about this in your Transition Guide or ask your financial advisor whether a target-date fund fits your goals.
