Dr. Oge Marques Joins the STEM Research Group for Digital Laboratory Learning

The Florida Atlantic Research Group for Digital Laboratory Learning is thrilled to announce the addition of the distinguished and unparalleled Dr. Oge Marques to the team! With Dr. Marques on board, the group is suited to elevate research and development endeavors through cutting-edge integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into learning environments. AI is one of Dr. Marques’ primary research interests. He is also renowned for expertise in teaching both in-person courses and Quality MattersTM certified online courses.

Dr. Marques is optimally positioned and well qualified to contribute significantly toward the team’s research objectives. Dr. Marques is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, and Professor of Biomedical Science (Secondary) in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Professor of Information Technology (by courtesy) in the College of Business, and also Visiting Instructor and Visiting Data Scientist at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience. Dr. Marques will serve as Artificial Intelligence (AI) lead on the team due to his expertise in this field, ability to thrive as an instructor for in-person and online courses, prolific publication repertoire, extensive experience on funded and successful research projects, and more. Dr. Marques is working with the team to integrate latest developments and best practices into Immersive Online Content modules utilizing AI for: (1) adaptive learning and personalized recommendations for students during virtual experiments; (2) providing assistance to students in lab report reasoning and writing; and (3) standardizing, optimizing, and automating lab report grading.
