Friday, Sep 07, 2018

September 7, 2018 - Christopher Strain, Ph.D., professor of American Studies for the Wilkes Honors College, presented a paper and moderated a panel discussion at the “We Who Believe in Freedom: A Symposium on Teaching Civil Rights” conference at Ohio State University. The conference gathered seventeen leading scholars of African American history, whose research and teaching expertise in history, literature, film, music, archives (traditional and online), and nonviolence have shaped the field of civil rights history over the last twenty years. All the invited scholars contributed original essays on civil rights pedagogy to a forthcoming book: Hasan Kwame Jeffries, ed., Understanding and Teaching the Civil Rights Movement (Madison: University of Wisconsin Press, 2019).
