I hold a BA in astronomy and physics and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Virginia. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Biomedical Ethics at the University of South Carolina, and have held visiting appointments at the University of Helsinki and Columbia University Medical Center, conducted field research alongside the International Labor Organization in Myanmar, and serve as a court-appointed volunteer Guardian ad Litem in Palm Beach County, Florida.

My research focuses on applied issues in medicine, science and global justice and I have extensive teaching experience in logic, ethics, and medicine.

I live in Jupiter, am married to Bobby, a software engineer, and am mom to Micaiah (22) and Kai (12). I have traveled to 35 countries, and in my spare time I like to run, swim, surf, and study Arabic, French and discrete mathematics.
