Renowned Breast Cancer Researcher to Speak at Harbor Branch

Daniel C. Flynn, Ph.D., vice president for research at Florida Atlantic University and renowned breast cancer researcher, will serve as a special guest lecturer for FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute’s (HBOI) Ocean Science Lecture Series in October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  

On Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m., Flynn will present “Cancer, Personalized Medicine and Ocean-derived Drugs” at the HBOI Johnson Education Center, 5600 U.S. 1 North, in Fort Pierce. Admission is free.      

Flynn spent more than two decades of his career conducting innovative breast cancer research, earning more than $40 million in grant funding to study signals that regulate invasion in the disease that is the second leading cause of death among women in the United States. 

The Ocean Science Lecture Series is part of HBOI’s Mission: Ocean Discovery initiative, which aims to provide a variety of platforms through which HBOI scientists can share their knowledge, including: public tours, exhibitions, programs, events (both on-site and off) and lectures.
